recent investigations . . .

where i live has a dramatic impact on what and how i paint.

currently, i am in the woods of northeastern pennsylvania, with trees and water and humidity, and i appear to be starting a new series about living among the trees.

last year i lived in the intensely bright arid dusty flatness of eastern new mexico.

you can see the difference not only in what i am painting, but in how i do so: colors, textures, sizes, light-dark contrasts, detail, brushwork, edge clarity . . . . the whole process shifts when my subject location changes.
